Trinity As A Hero?

Ashley Juman
Trinity as A Hero?
Trinity is a very powerful character in the movie The Matrix.  She is shown as a hero in this film by helping Neo to find his path and she can show him that he has the power to be the “one”. Without Trinity there is no Neo, and the characters Trinity, Neo and Morpheus are all connected.
Trinity helps Neo a lot throughout the film The Matrix, that shows that she is more masculine and represents a hero. In an article it is said that Trinity takes her name from a God. The article also says Trinity’s name “suggests an inversion of basic cultural assumptions.” In the beginning where Neo first meets Trinity face-to-face Neo was surprised, “Trinity : My name is Trinity. Neo : Trinity..._The_ Trinity? The one that cracked the IRS d-base? Trinity : That was a long time ago. Neo : Jesus!” (The Matrix Script) Neo was surprised because he thought that Trinity was a man, he tells her that and she replied back by saying, “Most guys do.” (The Matrix Script) That shows that Trinity has a more masculine role throughout the movie. Trinity is shown off as a hero because of the way Trinity takes care of and looks after Neo within the film.
Neo is more like a feminine character compared to Trinity. Trinity protects Neo and helps him throughout the movie. In one part of the movie where they are going to save Morpheus from the agents Neo told Trinity to stay behind but Trinity wasn’t having it and told him off. She told Neo, “I'm going with you. Neo: No, you're not! Trinity turns to face him. Trinity: _NO_? Let me tell you what I believe. I believe Morpheus means more to me than he does to you. I believe that if you are really serious about saving him, you are going to need my help. And since I am the ranking officer on this ship, _if_ you don't like it, I believe you can go to hell. Because you're not going anywhere else. Tank? Load us up.”(The Matrix Script) Trinity shows the viewers how masculine she is and how she makes Neo more of a feminine character. She told him off and that he basically has no say towards her. Also shows that she isn’t going to let Neo go in by himself to fight to get back Morpheus from the agents. In a scene of the movie the agents explain to Morpheus why he is very special to them, “… I must get _out_ of here. I must get free_...and in this mind...is the key. He taps Morpheus' head. Agent Smith: My key...once Zion is destroyed there is no need for me to be here, don't you understand? I need the codes..I have to get, _inside_ Zion, and you have to tell me _how_. You are going to tell me, or...you are going to die...” (The Matrix Script) This is why Trinity and Neo must get Morpheus back and Trinity wasn’t going to let Neo go off and let him do it alone. Morpheus is a key and is needed to be protected. Which in the end Trinity and Neo as a team do and get Morpheus back. Neo ends up dying in the end but Trinity brought him back to life with a kiss. Showing that Trinity is a hero, she is Neo’s hero.
All three of them are connected, like Morpheus for instance. Without Morpheus there would be no Trinity because she would have never been woken up by Morpheus the God of Dreams.  If Trinity was never woken up by Morpheus because he was never there then there would be no Neo. In the movie Neo is the one which makes the viewers believe that he is the hero, but he needs Trinity. Trinity is the one who goes out and gets him. She is the one who protects him when he is in danger when he needs it, “Neo : That was you on my computer. How did you do that? Trinity : Never mind, right now all I can tell you is that you're in danger. I brought you here to warn you” (The Matrix Script). That quote shows that Trinity is a hero like character in the movie. The movie shows how her character is more masculine then the character Neo because she is there to protect him not the other way around. In a part of the movie Morpheus, Trinity and Neo are trapped in a building and Trinity yells Morpheus’s name and Morpheus says, “You must get Neo out! He's all that matters!”(The Matrix Script) Morpheus basically gives Trinity responsibility of Neo and shows that she protects Neo when he needs it. Trinity has already been trained and Neo is still new to the whole idea of The Matrix. She has to help him like she is training him to help him find his path in believing in himself to help him know if he is the one. Once he knows he is the one he has the power. At the end of the movie Neo shows his true power once he believes in himself that he is the one. Neo was under attack by agents who are trying to kill him. Neo’s heart stopped when they shot him, but Trinity started to talk to him, “ Neo..I'm not afraid anymore! The Oracle told me I would fall in love, and that man, the man that I loved, would be The One. So, you see, you can't be dead...you can't be...because I love you....you hear me? I love you...She leans over and kisses him” (The Matrix Script). With that kiss that proved to Neo that he can have the power. He 7opened his eyes and found out his power. The agents were shooting at him but that didn’t stop him this time. He stopped the bullets and defeated the agents. That wouldn’t have happened if Trinity didn’t believe in him and help him find out who he was. That kiss gave him the power to awaken from the dead. That shows that Trinity can be the hero to Neo.
In conclusion, Trinity is portrayed as a hero in the movie The Matrix. Trinity shows Neo who he is and what he can do. She shows him his power and that she believes in him and once he believes in himself he will see what he is capable of. Without Trinity there would have been no Neo. Neo needed Trinity; she is the more masculine character because of that. She protects him and watches over him like he is the feminine character in the movie.

If I Told Him

The poem was pretty confusing for me. I didn't understand why she wrote that for Picaso. I also don't know how it relates to him. Is it because hes repetitive and confusing? Everything in the poem was very repetitive and it was long. When we listened to it, it actually sounded better than how we did it. But I still didn't understand what went through her head because it was a portrait of Picaso. I guess it was a good poem if it did fit Picaso's personality and how he is.

Chapter 3 of: THE ISLAND OF DR. MONREAU

In Chapter 3 of the book of The Island of Dr. Monreau the main character Edward Prendick was walking around the boat and he saw something that was very odd to him. He was startled when he saw a "black face". Prendick said "It was a singularly deformed one. The facial part projected, forming something dimly suggestive of a muzzle, and the huge half-open mouth showed as big as white teeth as I had ever seen in a human mouth. His eyes were bloodshot at the edges, with scarcely a rim of white round the hazel pupils." (9) He was explaining it like what he was seeing a beast or a creature he had never seen before.  Than as they got up to him, Montgomery had startled the man and had called him a devil then told him to get out the way. Montgomery was telling the man with the black face "...You have no business here, you know.... Your place is forward." He was talking to him like he didn't belong on the ship with everyone and that they didn't want him but the man with the black face seemed scared and had told him that they wont have him forward. (9) Than after that Prendick and Montgomery had walked to the captain of the ship because the man with the black face was being terrorized by men on the ship. The man who was terrorizing him started to laugh and Montgomery went to the Captain to defend him. The captain was in no need of help because the man was drunk. "That man's a passenger", said Montgomery. "I'd advise you keep your hands off him" "Go to hell!" said the captain loudly. He suddenly turned and staggered towards the side. "Do what I like on my own ship," he said. (12) Since the captain was so drunk him and Montgomery started to argue and almost had a fight but Prendick prevented that from happening.

350 Word Description

The artist I chose is David Alfaro Siqueriros. He is an Mexican painter from 1896-1974 and the painting I had chosen from him is called Proletarian Victim which was made in 1933. The painting is enamel on burlap and is 6 '9" x 47 1/2". The picture is a woman strapped up by rope her hands, stomach, legs and ankles. Her hands are behind her wrapped up and her head is down. You can see blood on her head and see how tight the rope is on her naked body. She seems to be a old women because of the gray hair. The colors that David used gives off this feeling of sadness and pain. Like you are watching someone getting tortured right in front of your eyes. Makes you think about how mean people can be and how twisted people are to even want to torture others. I know she was getting hit because she is bleeding from her head that is dripping down her naked body. She can't even do anything about it because she is tied up so tightly by rope. The artist used dark colors to give off a feeling of sadness or pain.

I chose this painting because of how it catches your eye and how it makes me feel. It makes me remember that life is not all fun. Life can be mean and torturous. It shows us that people do hurt others and make their life a living hell. Makes you wonder why? Why would you do that to someone? Why would you even want to hurt an older woman? She seems helpless and it breaks my heart knowing that their really are people out there that hurt others just because they want to. I think David made this painting to show us that the world that we live in is filled with others that could hurt us. That life isn't as perfect as we want it to be and that no matter how helpless you are they wont see what they are doing wrong.

Blog Assugnment #4

In the play Streetcar Named Desire by Tennesse Williams, the character Blanche is an alcoholic. When Blanche just got to her sister's home Stella wasn't there. Blanche looked around and saw the liquor bottle and served herself a drink (9). When her sister gets back Blanche has another and Stella asked if she would want another. Blanch replied " No, one's my limit" (12). Page 37 while talking to Mitch, Blanche says " I'm not accustomed to having more than one drink. Two is my limit-and three! (Laughs.) Tonight I had three." From these quotes alone you can see that Blanche is an alcoholic because she had a lot to drink in one day even though she says that one - three is her limit of drinking.

Also in the play Blanche had the tendency of wanting to take a lot of baths. Page 10 when Blanche sees Stella and says " But you don't look at me, Stella, no, no, no, not till later, not till I've bathed and rested!". In act 1 scene two Blanche is in a hot tub to quiet her nerves because she lost Bella Reve and told Stella about it, (page 21). Then Stella takes Blanche out to a play and to get some food while Stella's husband and his friends are having a poker night. Blanche and her sister come back and she wants to take another bath (33). I think Blanche wants to take so many baths because she drinks so much and every time she has a drink she feels dirty so she washes her sins away by taking baths. It can also be because she is guilty of something so she takes baths to think things out without disturbances.

Comic Book Inker : My Goal Final

1.     From the moment I started drawing at the age of eight, I knew from that moment it's what I wanted to do and I never looked back. I made sure I excelled in all of my art classes throughout elementary to high school. I am now in college and my major is fine arts. Everyday I feel as if I'm becoming closer to fulfilling my goal of becoming a comic book inker.

2.     There is a certain feeling that comes over me as I begin to draw and ink my work. As I sit down and begin to draw I can feel myself becoming engrossed in my work. I completely and utterly become lost in my own world of my creations and nothing that surrounds me matters anymore. Like when a writer gets lost as they write, I get lost in my own world and time becomes insignificant to me. I feel as if my creations have life to them and each of my own drawings have a story to tell. Art is a passion of mine and it's what I am good at. I love the look on people's faces when they look at my art work. It is a great feeling when people say, "Wow! That is amazing", it reassures me that what I`m doing, not only am I good at it, other people can see that I`m good as well. Drawing or inking really makes me happy, its the only thing that makes me feel important. Everyone supports me because they can see my passion and drive every time I pick up a pen. That is why I just can't quit art and decide to do something else in life. It really is a big part of my life and I can't get rid of it. My parents support me more than ever and so do my art teachers from high school. My art brings joy to everyone around me and I want to convey the feelings I have when I draw through my art to other people.

3.     To become a comic book inker I need to go to school and build a portfolio. I am building my portfolio by taking art classes in college and by drawing on my free time. I could also become an intern for artists, which seems a lot of fun knowing I could be an intern for a comic book artist. I checked online and noticed that Marvel Comics take in college interns. I applied for an internship at Marvel Comics because I think it would help me on my path to becoming a comic book inker.

4.     Some challenges that I am facing is finding a job as a comic book inker. It's a problem for me because comic book artists tend to work alone and don't want to hire someone to ink in there own work. Comic book inkers are also looked down upon because we "trace lines" but it is nothing like that. Comic book inking takes an artists pencil drawing and goes over it with ink. We can take the black ink and make the image pop off the page, and depth into the picture. Inking also helps prepare the page to be ready for printing. As an inker we must know about architecture, scale and perspective just as much as a penciler would know. We also need to know about how to use the two colors, black and white. Inkers also need to work fast so we can keep up with the constant work. It's also very expensive to be a comic book inker because we have to keep up with ink pens, or brushes, Indian Ink, rulers, etc.

5.     Comic book art is amazing to me, I can sit down and flip through pages for hours just looking at the artwork. This is a passion of mine and I want to make my dream come to fruition. I want to finish school so looking for a job wont be so hard for me. I want to build a great portfolio so artists can fall in love with my artwork. I want people to be amazed that I made it happen for myself. Becoming a comic book artist wont be easy but that wont stop me from letting it happen.

My Goal

My goal is to find a college that has a major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. I want to be a Ultrasound Technician. To be an ultrasound technician I need to find schools in that field, and so far I found two schools. I found Sanford - Brown and New York Methodist Hospital. They are both in New York City and I am going to try to get into them by September.

I don't know if this is what I want to do in life. I don't even know if this is what I want to do with my life. I don't know if I should stay as a Fine Arts student or not. My parents tell me that I should stay as a Fine Arts student. They tell me that I shouldn't waste the talent that I have. I do feel proud of myself by being in the honors art program in High School and by the end of the year I have gotten a certificate and a medial for Fine Arts. The only problem is that I just don't feel like I use to be about drawing or painting. This is the reason why I have been thinking about going into the medical field. If I did end up in the medical field I wouldn't have to worry about having financial problems. As an artist it's hard to find a good job and money as an artist can be iffy.

I feel like the only reason I would continue with being a Fine Arts student is because of my parents and my High School art teachers. I just don't want to disappoint anyone, I would just like for me to be happy for what I want. I feel a lot of pressure and stress because I am very lost and confused about what I want to do with my life. One of the most things that I am really worried about is money problems. As I get ready to start my career, I want to know that I will be okay. I don't want to be living with my parents still and I just don't want to be working in a unhappy environment. I want to feel useful in my life and I want to make a difference in my life. I want my parents to look at me and say, "That's my daughter and were proud of her." When it comes to me, I just want to live as an independent person. I don't like turning to other people for money, especially my parents.

The challenges that I am facing now and that I will face in the future seems very emotional to me. I feel scared and alone. My mom didn't have to go to school for her career, it was basically handed to her, so when she comes to me she acts like its just like high school. College is nothing like high school and so far in school I am very stressed out. I feel pressured because I am the first granddaughter to go to college. I am stressed out because I don't have a job right now, and my mom stresses me out even more because of that. Right now my time in college is good, but I am stressed out because of what I am going through. Other challenges are things like do I want to go out of New York or do I want to stay in New York. If I move out of New York, will my financial aid pay for it all or not? I am also scared of the world.

The only way I will know if I want to be an Ultrasound Technician is by trying it out. I need to find a school in New York, apply for it and see if I can get accepted. If I do get accepted I will feel very proud of myself. I want to do this for myself because I think it is a cool thing to get into. Letting women see there unborn child. I think it brings emotions and a great feeling to people. I don't want to be a doctor because blood freaks me out and so does cuts and wounds. That's why I thought about being an Ultrasound Technician. I know it wont be an easy road getting there for me, I know it will be highly emotional for me. I guess I can't let the world scare me and just keep moving forward.
